ISTD Modern & Jazz Dance
More About ISTD Modern & Jazz Dance
The ISTD Modern Dance syllabus incorporates elements of jazz and contemporary dance, and includes the learning of rhythm, good posture and the development of style & self-confidence. Modern dance transpired from ballet. Shoes were removed, movement became freer and music was used.
Modern dance mixes lyrical dance with more up tempo rhythms and explores all concepts of dance of today. The ISTD created their syllabus in 1932 and are continually changing and updating their syllabus.
Through their carefully planned and well-tried examination syllabus, which combines modern dance, jazz and other dance styles, young people are trained to become disciplined and versatile dancers.
Modern offers students the fast paced, energetic and fun style of dance that develops strength, flexibility, endurance and coordination with free work.
